Beauty tips : Home made hair treatment
Between harsh winter, stress, fatigue and pollution, I have had really bad hair. Thanks to my friend in the beauty industry, she gave me great tips on how to gain back healthy hair. A simple homemade concoction can be applied and left for a few hours to have a full healthy hair. It kinds of fell like making a mayonnaise for your salad, but it truly works! Each ingredient has some truly great benefices. Here is the recipe.
In a bowl mix:
- Olive oil for moisturize (Enough for your entire hair)
- Three spoons of vinegar for shine
- One raw egg to strengthen and add volume. It has some essentials proteins and nutrients.
- You can add a few drops of essentials oils depending on your hair condition.
-
- Basil for oil hair and to promote growth
- Clary sage: dandruff treatment
- Lavender oil: for scalp treatment for itchiness, dandruff and lice
- Myrrh: dry hair
Apply the concoction to your hair and massage gently the scalp to fully absorb. Leave it for a minimum of 1 hour and wash with warm water. Shampoo normally.

Perfumes workshops in Paris
A new trend is rising within the beauty industry in Paris. It is the perfumes workshops. From two uniques French houses dedicated to the perfumes world, Thierry Mugler and Patricia Nicolai, have created original and unique workshops to discover a world of odors. A full exploration of essences and scents to create your own unique fragrance. The workshops are dedicated to share a passion for the universe of perfume and to develop olfaction. Lead by professionals within the industry, I think this is a real and emotional experience to discover how a fragrance incites us to dream while creating emotions and sensation. It is definitely the new hot thing to do while in Paris!

RIP PHI
It seems recession has not finished to make some victims. After reading fashionologie.com, I found out that New York label PHI is going bankrupt! I loved the brand. It had some great edgy silhouettes and sleek cuts with a certain Asian flair and a black and white palette. “It’s a really challenging climate right now for luxury goods,” said Phi chief executive officer Julia Hansen. “There is not so much confidence in that market going forward.”

V magazine model weight controversy
The latest controversy in the industry is V magazine featuring two models: a size 0 model, Jacquelyn Jablonksu and a plus size model, Crystal Renn. The story is an inside editorial for V Magazine’ s Januray issue called “On Size Fits All”. I am loving the idea! The magazine is openly addressing an issue that has been going on for decades, demonstrating that every body type can be equally beautiful. What do you think?

The king of conceptual design, Martin Margiela leaves his company
I am really sad to hear Martin Margiela, the king of conceptual fashion, is leaving his company he founded in 1988. Known for his anti –conformist, avoiding the press, being never photographed and for his discretion, I understand the house will not name any successor but will only rely on his original design to come up with new ideas. For me, Martin Margiela is a creative genius, who brought fashion to a new conceptual artistic level by using apparent stitches and interior details for a unique aesthetic. A true avant-garde designer. I believe Martin was not happy of the commercial direction his house was heading toward, especially after its acquisition by Italian house Diesel.

Hedi Ferjani at Calvin Klein
French artist Hedi Ferjani, whose work has been recognized by well-know international figures such as Marylin Manson, Steven Meisle and Paolo Roversi, just did the window display of Calvin Klein shop on Madison Avenue in NYC. Flirting between various art medias from photography, video to conceptual art, his display, “Cosmic Dust”, is an exploration of the vast depths of the cosmos above. A true artistic installation reflecting Hedi’s charismatic personality! At a period of festive holidays, when each shop has put down their best holiday joyful displays, Hedi’s art is a fresh and interesting conceptual approach.

The Black diamond King – Azature
Azature is a LA based jewelry fashion designer. I have known Azature for years and it goes back to our years in Parsons design school while studying patternmaking and draping. I have always considered him a modern American-LA glamorous version of John Galliano with a Tom Ford touch. In class, Azature would always pull out killer black evening gowns that would draw everybody’s admiration.
Yes, black is Azature’s staple and it is no surprise to me that when he discovered the black diamond, he fell in love with this rare stone. From a jewelry family, Azature grew up in this environment. His collection is inspired by ancient relic, religion and cultural heritage for a timeless and outrageous aesthetic. The House of Azature has become synonymous with seduction, quality and craftsmanship. Some of his pieces have already been worn by celebrities including Beyonce, Rihanna, Lindsay Lohan, Kristin Cavallari, Julia Jones, Liv Tyler..to name a few. I am so proud of you Azature..Good job!! The pieces are gorgeous!

The last embroiderer – Francois Lesage
Have you ever wondered of who is really behind each collection? Who are the real artisans making it possible for haute couture fashion houses to create unique pieces? Well, Francoise Lesage is one of them, a real artisan with a unique savoir-faire. Lesage is the last hand-embroider and incarnates the true Parisian craftsmanship. “ Haute Couture without embroidery is non-existent.” states Karl Lagerfeld. Francois is the man Christian Lacroix refers to as his “ Godfather”. Representing the history of fashion, Francois has worked for famous designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Dior, Madeleine Vionnet, Yves Saint Laurent and Elsa Schiaparell, to name a few. Without Mr Lesage there will be not Haute Couture!
Francois Lesage started in Hollywood at 19 years old by opening a boutique on Sunset Boulevard and sold his first embroidery to the famous costume designer Jean Louis de la Columbia. While in Hollywood, he has created unique embroideries for the most beautiful women in the world from Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and Marlene Dietrich. In 1949, at only 20 years old, his father passed away, which led him to take over the family business. A family business created in 1868 by Albert Michonet, which was originally the suppliers of Napoleon III. The family business of Lesage is a true historical jewels of archives, composed of 55,000 references of swatches, representing millions of work hours.
Francois during an interview explained that glitters a few years ago were made out of gelatin, which meant no water and no heat. He remembered a client wearing a gown from Schiaparelli during a Bal in Monte Carlo. She danced all night long during the bal. When she got home, she couldn’t take off her dress because the glitters were glued to her skin. When using gelatin to make glitters, the artisan would go to the market in the morning to buy beef remains and will mix it with colorants to create glitters. It was a real rustic and unique process.
Times are harder and harder, especially with the industrialization and a growing mass market. Small business serving high-end fashion industry has shrunk to 115 in 2007 from 4,000 in 1950. In an attempt to preserve technical know how and guarantee quality, Lesage was brought by Chanel in 2002. Lesage is one of the few remaining hand-embroiderer in Paris.

Emerging designer: Baptiste Viry
I just discovered this new upcoming french designer, Baptiste Viry, who I totally love! Baptiste studied at the prestigious Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale in Paris and won several famous awards from the Trophée Saint Roch to the Dinars award. He worked for Hermes and already collaborated with designer Jean Paul Gaultier. His collection is mainly an accessories line with a few basics ready to wear inspired by strong military, historical and masculine references.

Paris – Shanghai by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel
Chanel just presented their pre fall collection in Shanghai with a short movie presentation dedicated to Coco Chanel’s Asian dreams.
The movie clearly shows Karl Lagerfeld cinematographic ambitions. After the launch of Chanel’s new magazine, video has become a new communication tool for the fashion house. The movie is a 22 minutes set showcasing Karl’s toy boy Baptiste Giabiconi, Freja Beha Erichsen and Hedi Mount. To be honest I am not a big fan of the black lipstick and of the models’ acting performance!!! Trying to pass Freja and Baptiste for Asians..weird!!!
